Life Drawing Week 4… Gesture is Tough!

Today was our first actual life drawing session with the model.  The images below are my first attempts, but looking at them now I have realised yet again I have no structure in them and no movement. They look quite still and lifeless. About half way through the class Michael drew a demonstration of the type of gesture drawing he is looking for.

Each pose shown below were 1 minute drawings.

Michael’s intervention image is shown first below. I had then tried to loosen up a bit; but as you can see, with a lot of difficulty. I really hope I will improve on my life drawing in the coming weeks. It is quite hard capturing the movement in each pose. I haven’t really thought about the line of action before, but it helps immensely.
